2023 has been a great year throughout the Twin Counties. The year has been filled with great events for everyone to experience the community and wonder of the Twin County area.
New businesses have opened. Existing businesses have expanded. Many organizations have received grants to strengthen our community. On top of those things, there have been multiple newsworthy moments this year.
As we find ourselves in the thick of the holiday season, let’s look back at 2023 to remember what the year has brought.
Spring Hope welcomed Ascent Studios.
Rocky Mount-Wilson Regional Airport reported huge growth.
Meredith Davis Johnson won Shuckin’ Shack’s Battle of the Openers.
Rocky Mount received a grant to renovate Sunset Park.
UNC Health Nash received several accolades including “Baby-Friendly,” Top 25 hospital in the state, and for heart and stroke care.
Etaf Rum published Evil Eye.
President Biden visited Nash Community College.
Kingsboro Megasite was named the most ready megasite by the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina.
NCWU Hosted the World’s Largest Bob Ross Exhibit
Cummins Rocky Mount Engine Plant celebrated the production of its 5 millionth engine.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace received a grant to increase the number of beds built and delivered over the next three years.
Larema Coffee launched Larema Beverage Co. and announced plans to open at the Rocky Mount Mills.
Larema’s Cait Hutsell won Ripe for Revival’s Chef Rival charity event.
Rocky Mount hosted its first-ever Cricket Tournament.
The summer was filled with great events like concerts, outdoor movies, and festivals.
The year is coming to a close with many wonderful Holiday Events including Christmas parades, tree lightings, and celebrations preparing to bring in 2024.
