A Big Night for Wilson: Warbirds Opening Day Takes Flight

There was a different kind of energy in Wilson this week.

Opening night for the Wilson Warbirds brought the community together in a way that felt both exciting and meaningful—and it didn’t take long to see that this is more than just baseball.

To mark the occasion, the Mayor of Wilson officially proclaimed April 14 as Wilson Warbirds Day in Wilson County, recognizing the impact this new team and venue will have on the community. It was a moment that set the tone for the evening and made it clear—this is something special.

From the moment guests walked through the gates, it was evident that the Warbirds have created an experience designed for everyone.

The venue strikes a strong balance between being family-friendly and socially engaging, making it just as enjoyable for a night out with friends as it is for a family evening. There are open outdoor spaces, multiple bars conveniently located throughout the stadium, and a layout that encourages people to move around, explore, and take it all in.

One of the standout features is the concourse that wraps around the entire field, allowing guests to experience the game from every angle. Whether you prefer traditional seating, a more relaxed spot on the open grass area, or simply walking the venue, there is no shortage of ways to enjoy the game.

For families, the venue goes a step further. An outdoor play area gives children a space of their own, making it easy for parents to enjoy the evening while keeping younger guests entertained.

And when it comes to food, the Warbirds did not miss. From classic ballpark favorites to a variety of individual food stands, there are plenty of options to choose from—making it easy to grab something quick or settle in and enjoy the full experience.

The team store was another highlight, offering a wide range of merchandise and gear, giving fans the chance to represent the Warbirds from day one.

Beyond the game itself, the venue is clearly built with community and connection in mind.

With dedicated spaces like the Party Patio, Flight Deck, and Captain’s Club, the Warbirds have created opportunities for company outings, birthday celebrations, and group events of all kinds. These spaces add another layer to the experience, making the venue just as much about gathering as it is about the game.

Opening night made one thing clear—this is more than a stadium. It’s a place designed for the community to come together.

From the atmosphere to the thoughtful design, the Wilson Warbirds have created something that will continue to grow and evolve with the people who fill it.

And if opening night was any indication, this is only the beginning.
