Building a Stronger Nash County Starts With Education

Nash Community College (NCC) isn't just a campus on Old Carriage Road — it's a powerhouse driving Nash County's economy. A 2021 Emsi study revealed that NCC contributes over $86 million annually in added income to the local economy, supporting jobs, local businesses, and economic growth throughout the region. That's like hosting the World Series every year — but with lasting impact.

The impact goes far beyond dollars. NCC supports 1,387 local jobs — roughly one in every 38 in the county. Every $1 invested in the college returns $3.60 in lifetime earnings for students, $1.50 in added tax revenue for taxpayers, and $6 in social and economic benefits for society. At the county level, that’s a staggering $30 return for every dollar invested.

But the true value of NCC is in its people. Each year, the college serves more than 4,400 credit students and 5,400 non-credit students, preparing them for careers in healthcare, skilled trades, CDL, and emerging industries — the very jobs that keep local businesses thriving. Alumni contribute $61.9 million annually in added income through higher earnings and the companies they support, with the average graduate earning $7,900 more per year than someone with only a high school diploma.

This ongoing investment in Nash County residents is the heart of the college. And now, the community has the chance to give back. The 36th Annual Student Scholarship Golf Classic, taking place October 2 at Benvenue Country Club, isn’t just a day on the greens — it’s a way to ensure scholarships remain available for local students. These scholarships cover tuition, fees, and books, helping remove financial barriers and opening the door to opportunity.

For 36 years, this event has helped students succeed and strengthened Nash County’s workforce. NCC has given so much to this community; now it’s our turn to return the favor. By registering to play, sponsoring a team, or making a donation, we invest directly in the institution that invests in us every day.

The impact of scholarships goes far beyond numbers — it transforms lives. As one former student shared:

“I could have never afforded to attend Nash without the scholarships of the Nash Community College Foundation ... Because of the generosity of businesses and donors of this Foundation, I had a future, and I became the CEO of Lifecare Hospitals of NC.”

Stories like this show why the 36th Annual Student Scholarship Golf Classic matters. On October 2 at Benvenue Country Club, our community has the opportunity to support the college that has given so much. By participating, sponsoring, or donating, we are not just supporting a golf tournament — we are investing in futures, families, and the continued prosperity of Nash County.

NCC has invested in us. Now it’s our turn to invest in them.
