New Businesses, New Beginnings: Two Local Ventures Worth Visiting

Rocky Mount continues to welcome exciting new businesses, each bringing something unique to the community. From a family-friendly ice cream destination to a local entrepreneur's dream becoming a permanent storefront, these two new ventures showcase the passion and dedication behind small business ownership.

STREAMSIDE Opens Its Doors on South Halifax Road

Looking for a new spot to cool off this summer? Rocky Mount has a sweet new destination.

STREAMSIDE officially celebrated its grand opening at 1801 S. Halifax Road, offering more than just ice cream. Visitors can enjoy a variety of frozen treats and food options while relaxing in a peaceful, family-friendly setting unlike anywhere else in the area.

What makes STREAMSIDE stand out is the experience. Guests can enjoy their ice cream while watching horses, goats, peacocks, and other animals that call the property home, making it an ideal outing for families, friends, or anyone looking to spend time outdoors.

The welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff have already made a strong first impression on visitors, and the grand opening marked the beginning of what promises to be a fun new gathering place for the community.

Whether you're stopping by for dessert after dinner or planning an afternoon with the family, STREAMSIDE offers a refreshing new destination just minutes from downtown Rocky Mount.

From the Classroom to the Kitchen: Melissa Gay Opens The Well Fed Cheetah Café

For Melissa Gay, serving others has always been at the center of her career.

A full-time teacher for the past 20 years, Melissa turned her love for food into The Well Fed Cheetah, a catering business known throughout the area for its beautifully crafted charcuterie boards, grazing tables, and homemade meals. Over time, what began as a passion project continued to grow through community support and word-of-mouth referrals.

Now, Melissa has reached another exciting milestone by opening The Well Fed Cheetah Café inside Remedy This Naturally Café on Benvenue Road.

The new café gives customers the opportunity to enjoy many of the fresh meals, grab-and-go lunches, soups, salads, sandwiches, and specialty offerings that made her catering business so popular—all within the welcoming environment of Remedy This Naturally.

Melissa's journey from educator to entrepreneur is a testament to following a passion while continuing to serve the community in a different way. Her new café provides another locally owned dining option while giving longtime catering customers a place to stop in and enjoy her food throughout the week.

Whether you're looking for a quick lunch, a fresh prepared meal, or catering for your next event, The Well Fed Cheetah's new location is another reason to shop local.
