Economic Development Update: Growth Continues Across the Twin Counties

Across Nash and Edgecombe counties, new investments, construction projects, and business expansions continue to signal confidence in the region's future. From new restaurants and retail developments to manufacturing growth and downtown revitalization, the Twin Counties are seeing momentum across multiple sectors.

Residents have likely noticed construction activity taking place throughout Rocky Mount, including progress on the future Texas Roadhouse location. The nationally recognized restaurant chain is expected to bring new jobs and additional dining options to the area, further strengthening Rocky Mount's retail and hospitality landscape. The project has generated significant excitement among residents and reflects continued interest from national brands looking to invest in the local market.

Another highly anticipated addition is Raising Cane's, which is planned along the U.S. 301 corridor in Rocky Mount. The popular fast-casual restaurant has developed a loyal following across North Carolina, and its arrival further demonstrates the region's growing appeal to major retailers and restaurant operators.

Wawa is also continuing its investment in Rocky Mount with a second location planned along North Winstead Avenue. The convenience store and fuel retailer has quickly become a popular stop for residents and travelers alike, and its expansion reflects continued commercial growth within one of the city's busiest corridors.

Additional commercial development is occurring near the Rocky Mount-Wilson Regional Airport, where EP Mart is planning a new location. The project adds to the growing investment activity occurring around one of the region's key transportation assets and further highlights the strategic advantages of the area for businesses and developers.

The manufacturing sector continues to play a major role in the region's economic success. Recently, Valencia Pipe Company (VPC Global) celebrated the opening of its new manufacturing facility in Rocky Mount. The project represents a significant investment in local industry, bringing new employment opportunities while strengthening Rocky Mount's position as a manufacturing hub in Eastern North Carolina. The facility also brings new life to an existing industrial property and demonstrates the continued demand for the area's workforce and infrastructure.

One of the region's most significant ongoing investments, the new Nash UNC Health hospital tower, recently reached a major construction milestone with the placement of its final structural beam. The expansion represents a substantial investment in the future of healthcare across the Twin Counties and will enhance the hospital's ability to serve residents throughout Nash, Edgecombe, and surrounding counties for years to come.

Downtown Rocky Mount continues to evolve as new projects build upon the momentum created by Rocky Mount Mills and other redevelopment efforts. One project generating excitement is the planned Renaissance Rooftop Bar, which will bring a new entertainment and hospitality experience to downtown. The addition is expected to further enhance the city's growing collection of dining, entertainment, and gathering spaces while contributing to a more vibrant downtown environment.

While each of these projects serves a different purpose, together they paint a picture of continued investment and confidence in the Twin Counties. New restaurants, expanded retail options, manufacturing growth, and downtown development all contribute to the ongoing story of a region that continues to attract businesses, create opportunities, and invest in its future.
